David Beckham Poses With The London 2012 Olympic Games …
May 19th, 2012We are just 70 days away from the start of the 2012 London Olympic Games and that means that the festivities for the Summer Games are officially underway. Earlier today, the Olympic Flame was flown from Athens, Greece to England where it will begin its 70 trek to the Olympic Stadium to mark the start of the games. British athlete David Beckham was on hand to accept the Olympic Flame upon its arrival so that he could pose for some photos with the golden torch. Check it out below.

The Olympic flame has touched down on UK soil this evening ready for its 70-day journey through Britain. Arriving on board a special golden liveried British Airways flight from Athens, the Airbus plane ‘Firefly’ Flight 2012 touched down at RNAS Culdrose, Cornwall at 7.25pm. It was carried down the steps of the plane by Princess Anne, who was followed by Games chairman Seb Coe, London mayor Boris Johnson and former England captain David Beckham … The distinctive gold London 2012 torch was then lit from the lantern and was passed to Beckham. He then climbed on to a stage and used the torch to light a cauldron at the air-sea rescue base, where it will burn overnight … Lord Coe said: ‘The arrival of the Olympic Flame on home soil is a magical moment for any host country. ‘It will connect millions of people around the UK to the Games in a unique way and allows us to celebrate the best of the UK and its people.’ Mr Clegg said the Torch relay would allow Britain to showcase itself to the world. He said: ‘Today, the Olympic Flame begins its journey across the nation. Eight thousand people will pass it from hand-to-hand, a human chain that reaches the length and breadth of Britain. It will visit a thousand towns, and be seen by millions; with every step, the excitement will build. And 10 weeks from now, the world will watch as the flame arrives at the new Olympic Stadium, bringing with it the hopes of a nation. This Games is for everyone. Between now and the Opening Ceremony, we have a chance to showcase our sporting heritage, our people and our culture, the things that made us such a great choice for the 2012 Olympic Games.’
And so … the first part of the London Games is officially underway. Over the next 70 days, as the torch makes its way all around Britain, the excitement and anticipation will build leading up to the Summer Olympic Games. Invariably, I get sucked into the Olympic Games so I fully expect to be sucked in again. Even as a child, I would LOVE rooting for the US athletes competing in the Summer and Winter Olympic Games. The last Olympic Games made me go gaga over Michael Phelps quest for gold medals. It remains to be seen if I will be as excited this time around but this first glimpse of the Olympic Torch is starting to stir those feelings. Are you excited for this year’s Summer Games in London?

London 2012 Is Psychological Warfare
May 16th, 2012The London 2012 Olympics have barely anything to do with sport. Not only is Britain continuing pagan/Nazi traditions and symbolism, the event is also a police state showcase and a psychological warfare attack on the people. www.prisonplanet.com www.reuters.com rt.com www.ushmm.org blogs.telegraph.co.uk leaksource.wordpress.com

Vinyl From London Olympics Will Be Recycled for the 2014 World …
May 16th, 2012
While we weren’t thrilled to hear that the 2012 London Olympics would be using PVC to build many of their temporary structures, the good news is that the materials will be recycled for another big sporting event afterwards. Over 142,000 sq. m. of PVC fabric was incorporated into the construction of the park and external Olympic venues, including Zaha Hadid’s Aquatics Centre, Hopkins Architects’ Velodrome, the Populous-designed Olympics Stadium and the Royal Artillery Barracks, but there is hope on the horizon because the developers of the Olympics have promised to do their part by recycling the vinyl after the games in new structures for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

A number of the 2012 Olympic venues were built using polyvinyl chloride (PVC or vinyl). To be fair, the material is durable, flexible, lightweight, inexpensive and customizable, but on the other hand, it doesn’t degrade, it’s hard to recycle, it produces toxic emissions and disrupts hormones. Because of its contentious nature, the London Olympic committee issued a policy back in 2009 to outline the use of vinyl at the venues. That policy dictated that any material used must include at least 30% recycled content, be manufactured in accordance with the ECVM Industry Charter, meet standards for effluent discharges and vent gases, and must not contain lead, mercury or cadmium stabilizers, amongst other things.
In addition, once the games conclude all temporary vinyl structures will be dismantled and the vinyl will be recycled. The recycling itself is slated to be done in the most sustainable way possible and involves a system of crushing, selective dissolving, fibre separation, PVC precipitation and solvent regeneration, all of which ensure that the product is high-quality recycled PVC that can be used again in a variety of ways with minimum negative impact on the environment. The recycled vinyl from the London 2012 Olympic Games venues will then be used for the football stadiums currently being designed and constructed for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. While we weren’t thrilled about the number of PVC structures going up for the Olympics, at least they’re working to recycle them into a new venue for the next major sporting event.
